International Projects

At ENSAD Dijon, the international dimension is integral to the school’s culture, influencing teaching, workshops, and research. This perspective enhances not only general education but also specific projects, including fourth-year internships and international artistic collaborations, reflecting a multicultural approach to art and design.

Blended Intensive Programme

The project is part of a research initiative among three European art and design schools focused on urban transformations:

  • École nationale supérieure d’art et design de Dijon
  • Hochschule Mainz-University of Applied Sciences
  • Barreira Centro Oficial de Estudios Superiores Arte+Disegno

It aims to improve urban public space quality, enhance community living, and promote diverse usage, fostering new ethical sharing practices and sustainable development. Following a workshop on street food cultures in Dijon in 2023, students met in Valencia in 2024 to explore street art and graphic design.

Multicultural workshops

Since 2018, the Art & Design School of Hubei University of Technology in Wuhan and ENSA Dijon have collaborated to explore design issues in contemporary urban contexts. In 2018, a group of three teachers and twelve students conducted a workshop in Wuhan focusing on small social structures in public spaces. Fast forward to April 2024, another group revisited this experience, specifically addressing “cool islands” and shading structures to combat climate change effects. This project involved research, a collaborative workshop in Dijon on bamboo construction, model-making, and a hands-on workshop in Wuhan to build and test the structures in public spaces.

Welcoming Artists in Exile

Residence

Since 2021, ENSAD Dijon has been committed to welcoming refugee artists. These residencies enable artists forced to flee their countries to continue their artistic research and creative projects. Funded by the Emergency Program for Refugee Scientists (PAUSE), the initiative involves technical and logistical support, access to resources, and professional integration assistance.

Notable residents include Congolese artist Cheriff Bakala, Russian artist Vladimir Abikh, and currently, Russian photographer Liudmila Zinchenko, collaborating with various local organizations. This support continues into the 2024-2025 academic year.
